Build a drive around a few viewpoints
The 30-mile (48 km) Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive leads toward Castolon and Santa Elena Canyon. That is the road's length, not the total driving distance from your accommodation.
Sotol Vista offers a broad view of the western park, including Santa Elena Canyon in the distance. At Mule Ears Viewpoint, you can see the distinctive peaks from the parking area. Pick your stops before adding longer walks, and check official road and trail conditions.
Treat Thanksgiving as its own booking decision
NPS identifies Thanksgiving among the busiest periods. The monthly average cannot tell you how crowded a specific holiday date will be. Confirm camping or lodging directly, and keep another activity in mind if your first choice is busy.
Pack layers for the colder evening. These normals describe Panther Junction; lower desert and river areas are hotter, while the Chisos Mountains are cooler. Check the forecast and district weather guidance before choosing your hikes.
