Redwood.

Redwood National and State Parks is a cooperative National Park Service and California State Parks partnership on the far northern California coast (NPS unit code REDW), combining Redwood National Park with the Jedediah Smith, Del Norte Coast, and Prairie Creek Redwoods state parks to protect nearly half the world's remaining old-growth coast redwoods. The National Park recorded 1,202,480 recreation visits in 2025 and runs a 5-year mean of 625,749 annual visits, though the 2024-2025 totals reflect an improved NPS counting method rather than real growth. The busiest month is June and the quietest is December; the curve is unusually flat because the mild coastal weather and year-round roads keep the park reachable in every season. Redwood National Park charges no entrance fee. This page is the navigation anchor for Redwood coverage on this site: the best-time-to-visit pillar covers month-by-month crowd, weather, summer fog, the Roosevelt elk rut, gray whale windows, and the Fern Canyon permit; the visitation page covers the long-run annual chart and the 2024-2025 counting-method change.
