Getting around in spring

Use the season’s access and safety decisions to choose your outing.

Keep chains and snow checks

Spring chains may still be required. Check the road and carry the equipment required for your route.

Stay clear of swift rivers

Snowmelt makes rivers dangerous. Stay back from banks and do not use a warm foothill day to judge a snowy grove trail.

Things to do in spring

Choose a shorter viewpoint or a longer outing for the actual conditions.

Foothill flowers

Late March through late May is the documented colorful window. Enjoy flowers away from dangerous river edges.
