Things to do in summer

Choose one or two outings that fit your dates and the day’s conditions.

Ledges woodland

A sandstone woodland walk offers a different setting from the open Towpath. Check the trail before choosing your route.

Beaver Marsh

Towpath flowers

Late-summer flowers along Hunt House to Botzum add interest to a walk or ride. Look for monarchs around goldenrod.

Getting around in summer

Use the season’s access and weather limits to choose the day’s route.

Prepare for humidity

Warm, humid conditions make water and a weather check useful even for a short walk.

Choose one main area

Pair a Towpath section with a nearby woodland or marsh stop, rather than trying to cover the entire valley.

Where to stay in summer

Choose a room in or near the valley; camping is not an in-park overnight option.

  • Inn at Brandywine Falls

This in-park bed and breakfast is an alternative to a nearby hotel. Check the property directly before booking.

  • Nearby communities

Choose a hotel or outside campground that fits the part of the valley you plan to explore.

Camping The national park does not permit camping, backcountry overnight stays or parking-lot overnight stays. Use an outside campground.
