We list only timing NPS publishes for Cuyahoga Valley. The park gives seasons for Brandywine Falls, months for birds, and hours for Everett Covered Bridge. It doesn't give fall color dates or a night-sky season, so we don't either. Brandywine Falls, the Ledges, Octagon, and Kendall Lake parking and day-use areas close from dusk until morning opening, so plan sunrise and sunset shots around those hours (NPS hours page).

The falls are open dawn to dusk. With less water, NPS says the bridal-veil pattern shows more, and right after storms water rushes over in high volumes. On July 21 the sun sets at 8:53 p.m.. Bald eagles now nest in the valley and are seen regularly, and great blue herons raise young in three heronries in or next to the park. |

In 2006 the National Park Foundation named it one of its top ten places for photography on public lands. In winter the Everett Covered Bridge Trailhead lot isn't plowed, and it closes as needed when conditions get unsafe (NPS current conditions). |

July is the busiest month at about 369,000 visits. May, the bird migration peak, runs 82% of that, September 79%, and October 80%. January is the quietest at 26%, and December runs 34%. At Brandywine Falls the busy hours matter more than the busy month: in nice weather and all summer the lot is generally full from 10 am to 4 pm.
NPS asks people heading for the Bike and Hike Trail to park at another trailhead, since the Brandywine lot serves both. Check NPS current conditions for closures and, in winter, which lots are likely plowed. Month tradeoffs are on the best time to visit Cuyahoga Valley page.
Rules for edges, drones, and permits.
Stay back 50 feet from the edge and base of Brandywine Falls. Don't climb the waterfall or the nearby fences and rocks: NPS says accidents there have led to serious injury and death (NPS safety page). At the Ledges, stay back from the edge, and don't climb on the rock formations, which the park doesn't allow (NPS Ledges Trail page).
Drones and other uncrewed aircraft are prohibited in the park (NPS laws and policies). The same page lists photography and filming among activities that can require a special use permit, and it doesn't give a group-size threshold, so ask the park before a workshop or paid shoot. Park only in designated spaces at Brandywine Falls.
NPS gives no set wildlife distance for the park. It says to enjoy wildlife from a distance and never feed animals, since human food can make them lose their fear of people.

What is a must-see at Cuyahoga Valley National Park?
For photos, Brandywine Falls, a 60-foot waterfall that NPS calls its most popular location. Go before 10 am or after 4 pm in summer, when the lot is often full. Everett Covered Bridge is another good one: the National Park Foundation put it on a 2006 list of top ten places for photography on public lands, and NPS says it's best with the leaves off the trees (NPS Brandywine Falls page).
Is photography allowed in Cuyahoga Valley National Park?
Yes. NPS lists photography and filming among activities that can require a special use permit, and doesn't say where the line is on its laws and policies page, so check with the park before a large or commercial shoot. Drones are prohibited (NPS laws and policies).
