Getting around in winter
The highway and the inner park road serve different winter trips. Check both before choosing your route.
Leave the inner loop to skis
Teton Park Road between Taggart Lake Trailhead and Signal Mountain Lodge normally closes to cars for winter. Moose-Wilson Road also has an unplowed winter section.
Respect winter wildlife areas
Check wildlife closures and avoid disturbing animals. For avalanche terrain, check the forecast and carry equipment you know how to use.

Ski, snowshoe, or photograph the range without expecting a summer driving loop.
Ski or snowshoe the park road
The winter Teton Park Road is intermittently groomed for non-motorized travel. Choose a distance and turnaround to suit the conditions.
Look for winter wildlife
Watch from a distance and detour rather than disturb an animal. Winter survival already puts wildlife under stress.
Try a ranger snowshoe outing
Check each winter’s program schedule and booking instructions. Do not assume last winter’s dates carry forward.
Where to stay in winter
Most park accommodation is seasonal. Confirm the winter exception before booking inside the park.
Jackson
Use lodging in the Jackson Hole area for a winter base outside the park. Check the road approach for each outing.
Triangle X Ranch
NPS lists a peak-winter season at this in-park ranch. Contact the ranch for dates; the general winter guide’s lodging summary is broader.
Winter camping Developed campgrounds normally close for winter. Overnight backcountry trips need a permit; sleeping in pullouts or parking areas is not a substitute.
