Choose how much of Shark Valley's loop to cover
The Shark Valley Tram Road is a flat, paved 15-mile (24 km) loop used for tram rides, cycling and walking. It starts behind the Shark Valley Visitor Center. Treat the full route as a substantial outing, not a short stroll.
If you prefer a narrated ride, NPS describes a two-hour Shark Valley tram tour. Check the operator's departures and booking availability before fixing your plan. Walking or cycling offers a different pace; choose a distance that fits your time, preparation and the forecast.
Prepare for insects and confirm the right entrance
Dry season does not remove the need for insect protection. Mosquitoes and biting flies can still occur, including at dawn and dusk. Royal Palm's normals give park-planning context; they are not a Shark Valley forecast.
The park's three entrances do not interconnect. Choose the entrance for your activity and confirm its hours separately from any tour time. Whole-park monthly counts do not show parking capacity, holiday crowds or how long an entrance queue will take.
Questions about February
Is February a good time to visit Everglades National Park?
Yes, for dry-season outdoor sightseeing, provided you plan around high average visit counts. Choose the park area and activity first, then check hours, tour availability and the forecast. Bring insect protection even in dry season.
How long is the Shark Valley loop?
The full paved loop is 15 miles (24 km). NPS describes a two-hour narrated tram tour along it. Walking and cycling are other options, but their duration depends on your pace and stops; do not treat the full loop as a short walk.
