Everglades National Park crowds by month.

By Nicholas Major · Last updated

Everglades National Park crowds peak in February, averaging 103,636 recreation visits. October has the fewest at 38,164, 37% of the peak. The lower-count wet season can bring rain and many mosquitoes, so fewer visits do not automatically make it a better trip.

Check weather and access before choosing dates.

Reading the shape of the year.

January, February and March are close together. January averages 99% of the February peak and March 99%. Moving between these months makes little difference to the overall monthly count.

December has fewer visits than that winter peak. It averages 72% of the peak, while November averages 58%. The best-time guide explains their different seasonal tradeoffs.

The lowest counts are in September and October. September averages 42% of the peak and October 37%. NPS notes that wet season can bring rain and many mosquitoes. Do not use a low count as a forecast for a comfortable outdoor outing.

Months with intermediate visit counts

August, September, October, and November average 30% to under 60% of the peak. This is a count band, not a weather recommendation or a definition of dry season. For the full "so when should I actually go?" verdict, which weighs crowds against weather and road access, see the Everglades best-time-to-visit page.

What these numbers measure

Each figure averages recreation visits for that calendar month across 2021–2025, from the NPS Visitor Use Statistics Data Package, 2025. Each percentage divides that mean by the highest monthly mean. Counts represent the Everglades National Park reporting unit, not Big Cypress, Biscayne or the whole Everglades region.

The data does not separate entrances, hourly queues, weekdays, holidays or tour availability. Use it to compare months, then check official information for your destination and dates. We are independent of the National Park Service.

Common questions.

When is Everglades National Park least crowded?

October has the fewest average recreation visits at 38,164, 37% of the February peak. Consider the wet-season tradeoffs before choosing it for a low-count visit.

Is December less crowded than February in the Everglades?

December averages 74,833 visits, compared with February's 103,636. That is 72% of February's count. It does not predict Christmas-week crowds or a particular entrance queue.

Can this calendar show the quietest entrance or weekday?

No. The source contains whole-park monthly totals. It cannot rank entrance crowding, compare weekdays with weekends or tell you when parking will be available. Check official information for the area you plan to visit.
