How to book Acadia camping
Choose the campground, site type and travel dates before opening the booking page.
Mainland and Mount Desert Island
Blackwoods, Seawall and Schoodic Woods release 90% of sites six months ahead on the first of the month at 10 am Eastern; 10% release 14 days ahead.
Duck Harbor
The whole season releases April 1 at 10 am Eastern. Stays are limited to three nights and one stay per calendar year.
Book before arrival
Every reservation is through Recreation.gov, including available same-day sites. Campground offices cannot book sites.

Know the camp rules
Plan for the park’s normal camping rules. Official conditions carry restrictions for your travel dates.
No overflow camping
Backcountry camping, overnight parking and winter camping are prohibited. A full campground does not authorize camping elsewhere.
Firewood and fires
Buy firewood locally. Schoodic Woods hike-in sites prohibit campfires, including charcoal; permitted fuel stoves are allowed.
Showers and water
No showers at Blackwoods, Seawall or Schoodic Woods. Duck Harbor has no potable water; plan to bring or treat it.
Camping outside the park
Compare the park’s gateway areas first, then confirm nearby campground seasons, fees and equipment rules with the operator.
Bar Harbor
Use this Mount Desert Island base for Park Loop approaches. Confirm your property dates and the route to each stop.
Southwest Harbor
A base on western Mount Desert Island for the Seawall area. Reaching eastern Park Loop stops requires a separate drive.
Winter Harbor
Choose this mainland base for Schoodic. It uses a separate approach from Mount Desert Island.

Can I sleep in my car at Acadia?
Reserve a campsite that accepts your vehicle. Overnight parking at trailheads, pullouts and parking lots is prohibited.
Can you camp in Acadia in winter?
No. NPS prohibits winter camping anywhere in the park. Use the dated campground schedule to plan a seasonal stay.
Are tents cheaper than RVs at Acadia?
Drive-up tent and non-hookup RV sites are generally $30/site/night. Walk-in sites are $22, while Schoodic Woods RV hookups cost $36 or $40. Duck Harbor shelters are $20 and group tent sites $60.
Is backcountry camping allowed in Acadia?
No. Duck Harbor is a reserved island campground, not permission for dispersed camping.
